The origins of Arthur Kaplan
The Arthur Kaplan company was founded by Mr Arthur Kaplan over 40 years ago in South Africa. As a young man of 18 years old, he joined the family business which his grandfather Harry Balzham had founded in 1889 in Pretoria South Africa. In 1978 Arthur opened his very own jewellery store named after himself and the company enjoyed excellent growth through the years. Arthur employed his family and it was clear that he inherited his talents for jewellery from his grandfather who is also said to have been Paul Kruger's personal jeweller. The company was listed on the JSE and after Arthur retired he sold the company and later in 2014 where it was acquired by taste holdings.
