The origins of Holmes Brothers
Holmes Brothers began in Durban South Africa during 1978, by the Holmes Brothers. Back in the early days a gap year to tour Israel, Egypt, Spain, Morocco, France, Portugal and later spent some time working in the UK. In 1999, they were one of the local designers invited to show their work in Durban and many milestones later they opened their first stand-alone store in 2004 and in 2015 the first store was opened in France.
Laurie also specialises in a short version of the inverted rail longboard first made by Max Wetland which he had created for skiing originally in the 70's and was inspired by surfboards but tweaked for snowy Canada. Now 10 years in, and Laurie still creates his version shorter versions of the long railboard inspired by Max with great success and loved by many surfers.
