The origins of Spilhaus
Spilhaus has more than 70 years of experience within the industry and was establish with the first store in Cape Town back in 1876 by Herbert William and Arnold Wilhelm Spilhaus. In those early years the company traded in ostrich feathers, wool and animal hides and underwent several changes from name changes to the type of company whilst these changes occured, Spilaus was asked to purchase the struggling UK company Walker & Hall who specialised in silver plating done by electrolysis. The firm was purchased with staff, equipment and stock and this was the begining of the Silhaus brand as we know it today. Today there are currently 14 Spilhaus stores in SA and in 2008 became part of the Look & Listen brand when the company was sold off.
