The origins of Dis-Chem 

Dis-Chem was established in 1978, by Ivan and his wife Lynette Saltzman who saw opportunity during a time when owning a pharmacy was risky, expensive and didn't always thrive. Saltzman and his wife took a leap of faith, both being qualified pharmacists, they invested R10,000 into their very first Dis-Chem store located in Johannesburg. Today Dis-Chem is one of the most successful, privately owned pharmacies with over 252 pharmacists and more than 50 stores throughout South Africa, with the family business still growing even more.
