Sunglass Hut was founded by optometrist Sanford Ziff during 1971, this was also the year he set up his very first free-standing Sunglass Hut store. The store became extremely popular amongst the many satisfied customers, which led it to grow even more and by 1986, the one hundredth Sunglass Hut store was opened in Miami and the company also achieved overal sales of $24 million USD a year. 1991 Showcases annual sales reaching $100 million USD, and the family business then sold part of their business, 1996 incorporated the sales of watches within some of the stores, 1998 began online trade with ecommerce, 2003 and beyond saw the company further rooted in trending fashion sunglasses designs by leading international brands.
