The origins of Asics
Asics is a Japanases multinational company specialising in athletic apparel and gear. The company was first known as Onitsuka Co during its inception in 1949 and was founded by Kihachiro Onitsuka who began manufacturing basket ball shoes in his home town. In 1977 Onitsuka Tiger merged with GTO Gelenk to create Asics Corporation which is the Latin word for "a healthy soul in a healthy body". In 2010 the company acquired the outdoor clothing manufacturer Haglos and by 2011 they were the Australia's official kit designer.
