Boksburg: Tourism, shopping and much more!
Boksburg is a city in South Africa, located on the East Rand of the Gauteng province. It was established as the East Rand’s administrative centre in 1887 following the discovery of gold and coal in the region. Since then, Boksburg (which was incorporated as a town in 1903) has become one of the Witwatersrand’s most important gold-producing towns.
Today, a multitude of industrial- and consumer goods are manufactured in Boksburg, including electric motors and glazed ceramics. And while gold mining still proceeds, it is mostly accomplished via the sinking of very deep shafts. Yet the golden days still echo through Boksburg thanks to its collection of historical buildings, including various hotels like the Angelo Hotel and Kings Hotel.
In terms of tourist attractions, various options are to be considered in and around Boksburg. Like exciting sand boarding at Mount Mayhem. With equipment and a lesson included, this activity is ideal for anybody addicted to speed and adrenaline.
For a more toned-down, family friendly version of a day out, consider Bokkie Park. Here is where kids can run around the playground, explore the petting farm, see the cows getting milked, cuddle the park’s free-roaming bunny rabbits, and so much more. There’s even a Saturday craft market once a month where one can search and shop for a variety of unique items.
And speaking of shopping...
