Centurion: Tourism, shopping and much more!
Centurion is a town located in the Gauteng Province of South Africa. Situated conveniently between Pretoria (about 23 km) and Midrand, Johannesburg (approximately 20 km), Centurion has been part of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality since 2000.
Similar to Pretoria and Johannesburg, Centurion is located on the Highveld. Thus, it has a similar climate with dry and sunny winters, and warm to hot summers. When comparing temperatures, Centurion’s weather is usually in line with the warmer Pretoria than the slightly cooler Johannesburg.
Centurion provides various tourist attractions and –activities, including the Sterkfontein Caves (a World Heritage Site) located less than 50 km away. In addition, there’s also SuperSport Park (aka Centurion Park), a cricket ground with a capacity to hold 22,000 people, making it ideal not only for sporting matches, but also musical performances. Those seeking a fun-filled family day out can consider Irene Dairy Farm. What could be more enticing than a fresh and functioning dairy farm with on-site restaurants, walking trails, and a dairy shop that sells, among other goodies, rich and decadent ice cream?
