Randburg, which was founded as a town back in 1959, is made up of 32 suburbs located in the north-west of Johannesburg. The name of the town, which has its own council, is derived from the South African Rand currency (it was introduced approximately the same time as the new municipality was established).
Situated a mere 20-minute drive from Johannesburg, Randburg shares the same subtropical highland climate as the bustling city. Likewise, the town mostly enjoys warm and temperate weather with most rainfall occurring in summer.
In terms of tourism, Randburg presents various options that cater for the entire family – like the Xtreme Indoor Go Karting. Sporting UK-imported racing cars, Xtreme also provides drivers with balaclavas, crash helmets, plus a full drivers briefing to ensure safety first. But if racing rules and flag signals sound like too much, what about the Honeydew Mazes? Offering a large number of different maze designs (which are often altered), Honeydew Mazes is all about boosting family fun in the fresh outdoors. Try the Green Maze (made from indigenous plants) for an easy way out, the Elemental Maze for a much trickier experience, and everything in between!
But if this sort of outing still doesn’t tickle your fancy, perhaps it’s time to consider Randburg’s plethora of shopping malls and –centres?
For the newest product promotions and store specials, Randburg offers you a variety of locations with prime shopping potential. Like Cresta Shopping Centre which is known as one of the biggest shopping centres in the country. With more than 260 stores and various quality offerings (like the award-winning CrestAquarium which houses about 30 species of tropical fish), Cresta can be trusted for high-class shopping experience at Absolute Pets, Cotton On Kids, Panarottis, and more.
Over in the Randburg CBD we find Randburg Square, formerly known as the Sanlam Shopping Centre. This shopping paradise (which offers more than 70 shops scattered across approximately 40,767 m²) has been serving the suburbs for the last 33 years with the likes of IT Tronics, Uzzi, and Shoprite to name a few.
For a family day out, try Randridge Mall. Catering for young and old (and everyone in between), the mall has been part of the Randburg community for over 25 years. And a slew of new stores has boosted Randridge Mall’s popularity considerably, including Bargain Books, Kingsmead Shoes, Sheet Street, and many others.
To discover more product discounts and customer perks, there’s Ferndale on Republic. Locals and visitors are spoilt for choice when it comes to the mall’s enticing collection of 90+ stores, including Food Lover’s Market, Quiksilver, and Home Stuff.
And right in the heart of Boskruin is where you’ll find Boskruin Village Shopping Centre, where retail therapy (whether it’s for healthy, beauty, fashion, or food) can be enjoyed at the likes of Clicks, Mica, Mugg & Bean, etc.
Be on the lookout for the latest product catalogues and promotional brochures highlighting even more shopping options at other Randburg malls and centres like Appletons Village, Brightwater Commons, Lifestyle Garden Centre, and many others.
